Here They Are: The Year’s IPO Registrations So Far in 2011
March 2, 2011
By our count, 84 companies have filed the initial paperwork to go public so far this year. The full list is available here. A few quick observations below.
Most of the registrants — 64, to be exact — filed the S-1 registration statement. The remaining companies break down as follows:
- 9 foreign private issuers (filing form F-1)
- 9 closed-end investment companies (filing form N-2)
- 2 REITs (filing form S-11)
We observed in a post earlier this year that Nevada was running ahead of Delaware as the most likely state of incorporation for new companies this year. Since then, Delaware has surpassed Nevada — but barely. It claims jurisdiction over 24 filers, compared to 23 for Nevada.
We’ll offer some more detailed analysis of the IPO market in future posts.
