Really Smartphones

A recent article in Newsweek outlines the development of the Android, a free, open-source mobile software platform that is currently involved in taking the smartphone market by storm.  Android has quickly replaced Apple as the top smartphone software platform in the US, with Google reporting in August that it was “activating 200,000 Android phones each day.”  Not surprisingly, this has caused some tension between these formerly amiable companies, with Steve Jobs going so far as to claim that Google was fudging its books.

We’re not ones to pick sides, even after last month’s article about the 11 suicides among employees of iPhone production company Foxconn.  Run some numbers for yourself on our SEC Filings page by checking out annual reports on both Google and Apple.
