Out of This World
The United Nations has a lot to talk about these days, whether it’s working out the details of its own relevancy and reform, or wrangling an Israel/Palestine peace agreement, or maintaining an audience for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s address to the General Assembly.
Maybe Steven Spielberg added his own talking points to the UN’s agenda this year, because the Telegraph is reporting that Malaysian astrophysicist Mazlan Othman, currently the director of the UN’s Office of Outer Space Affairs (yes, this is a real thing), may soon be appointed the go-to gal for coordinating human responses to any close encounters of the third kind. As the Telegraph puts it, “Aliens who landed on earth and asked: ‘Take me to your leader’ would be directed to Mrs Othman.”
Knowledge Mosaic is also adding to our purview, though we’re keeping things a little more geocentric. Supplementing our existing material from federal regulatory and oversight bodies, this October we’re adding to our platform the US Treasury, GAO, CBO, FinCEN, NCUA, OFAC, EPA, and the NRC.
