DNA-Tested, Court-Approved
The law firm of Winston & Strawn announced today the release of InnocenceRecord.org, a collaboration between the firm and the Innocence Project, a litigation and public policy organization devoted to the exoneration of wrongly convicted individuals who can be retroactively proven innocent through DNA testing. The new website provides a searchable database of court records and other data for which the convicted were later exculpated.
The Board of Directors for the Innocence Project includes John Grisham, author of numerous legal thrillers whose first nonfiction book, The Innocent Man, deals with exactly this issue. He says that Innocence Record is “a much-needed analytical tool in the effort to advance innocence reform across the country.”
