HP Takes All
September 3, 2010
The epic bidding war over 3PAR has finally drawn to a close. Though Dell made a valiant effort in the eleventh hour, offering to purchase the data storage company for $32 a share, Hewlett-Packard has triumphed, and will buy 3PAR for $2.4 billion, or $33 per share.
This is the expected outcome, as HP rakes in twice as much in total revenue as Dell. But don’t feel too badly for the underdog: Dell is claiming a $72 million payment from 3PAR for breaking their merger agreement.
