Hawaii IPO

July 19, 2010

Today brings the first IPO from a Hawaiian company in over five years, and only the fourth in the EDGAR era.   The S-1 filed today by New Media Insight Group, Inc.,  originates from Kamuela, also known as Waimea, on the big island of Hawaii.   Kamuela/Waimea is home to a number of annual events, including a Cherry Blossom Festival, Fourth of July Rodeo, Aloha Festival and Parade, and Ukulele & Slack Key Guitar Institute.  With its plans to launch an internet marketing company, New Media hopes another annual event on the Kamuela calendar will be the filing of its 10-K.

On a related note, IPO is an anagram of poi.  Aloha.
